Changing the lives of our students

At Roehampton, we want to attract and support the brightest and most talented students, regardless of their background. We believe that it is extremely important that nobody is deterred from joining us due to their financial circumstances.

Many Roehampton applicants face barriers to a university education. This could include their background or where they live, financial barriers or personal circumstances such as living in care or having to look after relatives.

We provide a range of bursaries and scholarships for our students. With your support you will help change the life of a student at Roehampton and ensure they are able to make the most of their time at university.

“Where I am now would never be possible without the scholarship and all the opportunities Roehampton provided me with”

Julia Ćwierz (LLB Law, 2019)

"I am proud to have attended such a forward-thinking university like the University of Roehampton. The University of Roehampton was the very first university in the UK to introduce an esports scholarship which automatically made me the first person, and first woman, in the UK to receive such a scholarship. The scholarship money allowed me to improve my technical set up and undertake coaching sessions.

"My career prospects and involvement in the esports industry increased with many professionals and journalists reaching out to me after the opportunities the University gave me. It is amazing how much the University of Roehampton cares about each of their students and is fully committed to providing them with resources to succeed. Where I am now would never be possible without the scholarship and all the support Roehampton provided me with. I now play for Absolved, an esports organisation. I was selected to take part in Intel FutureGen 2020 and I am training to be a reviewer for the International Journal of Esports. I am very grateful for all the help and looking forward to encouraging students, especially women and other under-represented groups in esports, to apply and benefit from this opportunity."

“The scholarship I received from the University helped me achieve things I never thought I would”

Jade Davenport (BSc, Sport and Exercise Science, 2019)

"I joined Roehampton University in 2016 and graduated in 2019 with a 2:1 in Sports and Exercise Science. I was the first person in my family to get a degree so that is a massive achievement.

"Growing up, I wasn’t confident. I was always bottom set in school and hated learning! The only subject I enjoyed was P.E as it was the only thing that I was good at. When I got an offer to study at Roehampton I was overwhelmed. They supported me with my studies and supported me financially so I was able to travel to my training three times a week and to football matches when I was playing for Crystal Palace Ladies. I was able to play the game I loved, as well as study to get my degree. The support they gave me changed my life. Having the honour of playing for the Roehampton ladies football team and meeting friends for life was one of the best experiences I have had. I am so grateful to the donors who made my time at Roehampton possible and gave me the opportunity to study and play semi-professional at the same time.”
